Jumper Teague directed this artful horror-comedy from a dialogue by Room Sayles, which plays off the past urban story about the dangers of flushing one’s creature crocodilian down the toilet. One such unfortunate anapsid is “Ramon,” who survives in the covert cistern by chew on the steroid-saturated carcasses of dogs dumped there by material subsidiary researchers and eventually bulks up to the bigness of a Winnebago. When different waste workers adrenarche disappearing into Ramon’s solid maw, hard steal David Madison (Robert Forster), who has a yore of unfortunate partners, reveals a toughened subjective wonder in the case. Deemed a spell and a oddball by his superiors, he’s kicked off the armour and must go railway (literally) to undo the sacrifice with the help of animal reptile-expert Marion (Robin Riker). The humourous book is filled with intelligent references, crackpot characters and in-jokes aplenty (a sort intellectual of Joe Dante’s Aggressor and The Howling, both of which Sayles also scripted), which combines with respectable effects and a commonweal increment of dread (particularly in the drainpipe scenes) to make this an entertaining fille overall. Highlights incorporate Millihenry Silva’s immoderate act as a misplaced big-game huntress who recruits urban “native guides” in his back-alley foraging for the artful Ramon.
